First Light

Thursday 14th July 2016

I am delighted to be showing my work once more in Berwick –upon –Tweed.  My residency at the Gymnasium Gallery in 1998 was the start of many important connections both professionally and personally.
The confluence of the rivers, Forth, Tweed, Tyne and Thames into the North sea and channel has been pivotal in much of my work. The point where the beginning and end of sea to river and vice versa takes place reveals so many histories of travel and arrival to this island.
First Light will show a series of paintings, mono prints and etchings reflecting this journey. The work will be on show at the Granary Gallery, Berwick- upon –Tweed as part of the International Print Biennale (the UK’s major print event taking place across the North-East of England in Oct 2016.) New work will be made at Northern Print and they will be showing ‘In Conversation’ responding
to the article in Printmaking Today.

With An Apple I Will Astonish

Thursday 4th October 2012

“Remembering both paradise and the inferno and remembering that Cezanne once vowed to astonish Paris with an apple, Large Glass has asked artists and thinkers to consider the apple, its narratives, meanings and beauties. The results are here: delights for the eye and ear: drawings, paintings, objects, sounds – one part of a continuing harvest.”
